An independent management development consultancy established in 1996. Offering over 20 years hands on experience within a wide range of health and social care settings. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills combine with a strong customer focus and client relationship management.
An outcome focused organisation which places the user of services at the centre of what we do and concentrates on 'what works' whilst operating at the leading edge of performance improvement in the health and social care sector.
Our group consists of two senior management consultants and quick access to specialist associates. We offer tried and tested teams specific to each task.
Peter Wiggin
Qualifications BA Hons, CQSW, Diploma in Applied Social Studies, Registered Social Worker
The founder and a Director of Concord Associates. Ten years as an independent trainer, consultant and researcher. Peter has worked in Local Authority Social Services and extensively in the voluntary sector. He was Assistant Director for the northern region of The Children’s Society and seconded to undertake National Business Planning activity for the organisation. He was also Regional Manager for the South West and Wales for Spurgeon’s Child Care.
Peter has extensive service planning experience and been responsible for leading edge service developments at both a local and national level. Partnership working and whole systems planning across sectors underpins all of his work. He draws upon research experience and promotes evidence based practice. Peter has undertaken feasibility studies and service reviews which have resulted in progressive service change including the establishment of: - Rehabilitation Teams; Day Activity Programmes for older people, people with disabilities and people with mental health needs; Family Centres and Community Projects; a Safe House for children who run away from home, and a national Prison Remand Rescue programme for young people.
Peter is an Associate Lecturer with the Open University where he has also worked as Staff Tutor. He undertakes work in an Associate capacity for the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action and also the Wales Council for Voluntary Action. He creates and delivers training and staff development courses which include Business and Project Planning, Fundraising, Monitoring and Evaluation, Management Development as well as courses for practitioners in Working with Young People and Working with Older People. Peter has also delivered training programmes to “streetwork” projects in Latvia and Tajikistan. In Tajikistan he provides on going consultancy and support. He has an interest in hidden disabilities and also runs courses for students with dyslexia together with their tutors.
Peter has extensive experience of income generation through trusts and government sources and has worked as an Assessor for the National Lottery.
Christa Wiggin
Qualifications MA, Diploma in Social Studies, Accredited Alternative Dispute Resolution Mediator
Director and Company Secretary of Concord Associates. Christa has worked independently for more than 3 years leading small and focused teams delivering contracts for the Department of Health and DfES. She was previously an Assistant Director with KPMG and became the firm’s national lead on Social Care. She has many years experience as an Assistant Director in Social Services and has also held leading jointly managed and funded senior posts in Social Care and Health Care services. She is a Special Terms Inspector with CSCI and has recently specialised in Supporting People inspection work.
Christa works directly with Central and Local Government, driving up performance and improving social work practice both with authorities failing to perform well, and with leading edge authorities. She brings knowledge and experience of best practice, service evaluation methodologies, and successful strategic, business and service commissioning approaches. Christa has led nationally commissioned Performance Action Teams and External Support Teams delivering the national agenda for improving children's and adult's services.
Christa was a Trustee of the British Institute of Learning Disabilities for many years and has specialist knowledge and experience in this area. She is a specialist member and mentor for the Care Standards Tribunal and she is a professionally qualified commercial mediator and specialist in alternative dispute resolution.
Christa promotes diversity and an inclusive approach. For many years she was an independent member of Gloucestershire Police authority and a member of the Police Authority Community and Race Relations working group.
